Project Design Center
The Project Design Center is where ideas are first conceptualized. Various spacecraft configurations and mission scenarios can be examined to determine if the mission can be performed. The presenting engineer for this part of the tour was Farisa Morales.
My name is Farisa Y. Morales, I'm an Astrophysics researcher, and a student at UCLA. I came to JPL for a summer internship through CalTech's SURF program in the summer of 2000, where I had the opportunity to learn and design the Telecommunications System of a Rover design to the North Pole of Mars. During that summer I worked in the Project Design Center (PDC) Environment, where I performed the role of the Telecommunications Engineer, and Ground Systems Engineer. I was later hired by my summer mentor to aid in other various projects. I have presently joined the SIRTF Science Team (a group of Astrophysicists) in charge of the science to be gained by the Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF) Telescope to be launched January 31st, 2003.
