Director's Research and Development Fund |
| Description: |
The principal objectives of the DRDF are to provide funding to promote innovative seed efforts in promising fields of science and technology for which conventional program resources are not available and to ensure collaborative work with external organizations. |
| Eligibility: |
External participation of approximately 50% is required on every proposal. The collaborators can come from domestic universities, industry, other NASA Centers, or any US government lab. |
| Deadline: |
Normally a "Call for DRDF Proposals" will be solicited at the end of August. By October, the full proposals will be submitted and the DRDF review process begins. |

Experimental Program to Stimulate Competiive Research (EPSCOR) |
| Description: |
This program targets states of modest research infrastructure with funds to develop a more competitive research base within member universities. A program to develop academic research enterprises that are long-term, self-sustaining, and nationally competitive for non-EPSCoR funds. |

JPL Research Affiliates |
| Description: |
Research Affiliate appointments are made to recognize the working relationship between researchers in the academic community and their scientific or engineering counterparts at JPL. Interaction with the academic community is fostered, but without fee, salary, stipend or grants for the academic researcher. In some cases, recent retirees may be appointed as Research Affiliates in order to continue their research in collaboration with JPL colleagues. Research Affiliates are formally appointed by the JPL Chief Scientist. |

NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) |
| Description: |
Research Associateship awards are made to doctoral level scientists and engineers who can apply their special knowledge and research talents to research areas that are of interest to them and to JPL This program is for recent graduates as well as established engineers and scientists to work at JPL. It provides the opportunity for concentrated research on an annual basis, renewable for two years. |
